OBENKINO | Program & Tickets in Cottbus
OBENKINO in Cottbus is the film offering at the youth cultural center Glad-House and thus part of a house that is perceived as a cultural meeting point far beyond the city limits. The Glad-House describes itself in its own information as the largest socio-cultural center in southern Brandenburg; at the same time, it unites several areas, namely event office, Obenkino, and literature workshop. This very mix makes the place exciting for everyone looking for obenkino cottbus program, obenkino today, or obenkino gladhouse: It is not just about a single screening, but about a cultural house with films, discussions, readings, music, and thematic projects. So if you are looking for a program cinema with concrete service information, a central location, and a clear regional profile, you will find an address with character in the Glad-House. The OBENKINO is the area where cinema experience, current film selection, and cultural educational formats come together. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/service/freie-stellen/fsj-kultur/?utm_source=openai))
Also for the search for obenkino cottbus today or obenkino upcoming events, the official program page is particularly helpful, as it not only displays films but also film & discussion, premieres, and other formats. The current look at the cinema week from 16.04.–22.04.2026 shows, for example, four minus three and father mother sister brother as regular film offerings as well as SPIONE UNTER UNS as film & discussion with Brandenburg premiere and school presentation. This speaks for a cinema that does not rely on pure mass products, but on curated content, context, and exchange. That is exactly why OBENKINO fits so well with search queries like obenkino program today or obenkino cottbus preview: The page connects program information with background texts, dates, and practical details. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/))
Program today and upcoming events at OBENKINO
If you want to visit OBENKINO today or in the coming days, you will land on a program world that is deliberately diverse. The official homepage of the Glad-House shows several film titles with detailed summaries, runtimes, and age ratings for the current cinema week from 16.04.–22.04.2026. This includes four minus three by Adrian Goiginger with 121 minutes and FSK 12, father mother sister brother by Jim Jarmusch with 110 minutes and FSK 12, as well as SPIONE UNTER UNS as film & discussion in the category Brandenburg premiere. The combination of film and discussion is a strong feature of the house because it expands the cinema experience with context, exchange, and regional references. For search intentions like obenkino program today or obenkino cottbus program today, this is exactly what is important: The program is not only displayed but also explained in content. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/))
The program of the Glad-House does not end with the cinema. The same homepage currently also features a quiz night, a concert, and a reading stage, which underscores the character of the house as an open cultural center. This is relevant for keyword analysis because searchers with obenkino upcoming events often ask for more than just films: They want to know if there are premieres, special dates, discussions, quiz formats, or musical evenings. In practice, this means: OBENKINO is a curated program area within a house that addresses various target groups. Therefore, those interested in Obenkino photos, Obenkino preview, or current thematic focuses will find not only title images and program information on the official pages but also insights into the cultural breadth of the house. This versatility is one of the most important reasons why the search volume around obenkino gladhouse and obenkino cottbus program is so high. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/))
Ticket service, box office, and advance sales
Regarding obenkino cottbus tickets, the official regulation is pleasantly clear: Admission tickets for all events are generally available at the box office. The Glad-House adds an important note for advance sale events: If an advance sale is activated, it will be linked directly in the program overviews. For guests, this means that one should first check the respective event in the program before assuming a ticket purchase through external systems. This transparency helps with visitor planning because it clearly separates the search for tickets, box office, and pre-ordering. For search queries like obenkino program or obenkino cottbus tickets, this is the most reliable answer that can be derived from the official information. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/service/kartenservice/?utm_source=openai))
Additionally, the current homepage shows that individual dates can indeed work with external ticket solutions. For the concert FRANK OUT!, for example, an Eventim ticket link is displayed, which proves that the house uses different distribution channels depending on the format. This is practical for visitors because they can distinguish between classic box office, linked advance sale, and possible telephone pre-ordering. The official information explicitly states that pre-orders are only conditionally possible and that the phone numbers listed under contacts should be used for this purpose. This structure fits well with a cultural house with changing formats because cinema evenings, film discussions, premieres, or concerts can be treated organizationally differently. Therefore, anyone searching for obenkino cottbus program today should always pay attention to the ticket note directly in the respective date. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/))
Access by tram 4, car, and visitor information
The official travel page makes it easy to plan the way to OBENKINO: The address is Straße der Jugend 16 in 03046 Cottbus. For access by car, the Glad-House specifies concrete access routes, for example from Berlin via A13 and A15 with exit Cottbus Süd, from Dresden via A13 and B169, and from Frankfurt (Oder), Eisenhüttenstadt, and Guben via B112 and further B97. The page also refers to B97 for arrivals from Bautzen, Hoyerswerda, and Spremberg. So if you are looking for obenkino cottbus or obenkino gladhouse cottbus and also need directions, you will get very clear guidance on the official page. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/service/anreise/))
For access by public transport, the recommendation is just as concrete: From Cottbus main station, tram 4 goes to the stop Marienstraße/Glad House; alternatively, the house is about a 15-minute walk away. This is important for visitors looking for obenkino cottbus opening hours, obenkino today, or obenkino upcoming events, as planning the date and means of transport always goes together for events. Those arriving by car will find on the public travel page primarily the route guidance and less classic parking information; the page thus focuses on the way to the house and not on a detailed parking guidance system. This keeps the information honest and concise: driving to the house is fine, but please check specific parking details directly with the house or through the respective event. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/service/anreise/))
Auditorium cinema, 180 seats, and technical equipment
A strong argument for OBENKINO is the room itself. The official room page describes the event venue as an auditorium cinema with a hall area of 11.00 m x 17.00 m and about 180 seats. In addition, there is a screen size of 3.50 m x 7.00 m and projection technology for 35mm film and video, including Blu-ray discs. The sound reproduction is also mentioned: stereo, without Dolby technology. This clearly shows that OBENKINO is not intended as an arbitrary side area, but as an independent cinema hall with comprehensible technical equipment. For search queries like obenkino cottbus program or obenkino gladhouse, this information is important because it makes the size, quality, and usability of the house tangible. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/service/r%C3%A4ume/kinosaal/))
Particularly interesting is also the open-air cinema in the courtyard. The official room page states a capacity of about 70 seats and a screen of 3.80 m x 2.20 m in 16:9 format. Here, the keyword obenkino summer cinema becomes practically concrete, as the facility is not limited to the indoor area but also offers an open-air area. Additionally, the page mentions the beverage supply in the red foyer and the possibility of a practical stage construction in front of the screen. This makes it clear that the house is prepared not only for film screenings but also for discussions, smaller live formats, and hybrid events. So if you are looking for photos, atmosphere, or seating plan, you will find the crucial facts here: a manageable, intimate cinema space with around 180 seats and a summer or open-air area as an additional option. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/service/r%C3%A4ume/kinosaal/))
History of the Glad-House and the uniqueness of the location
The cultural profile of OBENKINO can only be understood if one considers the history of the building. The official history of the house describes the complex as a late-classical building that the citizens of Cottbus built in 1846/47 as a citizens' casino. Later, a bowling alley, a beer cellar, a representative head building, and an additional hall extension were added; further renovations and expansions followed in several stages until the 20th century. After World War I, the area served temporarily as a hospital before it was reopened in 1951 as a youth club. At the end of 1989, the building was in a state of disrepair, but in 1990 it was reopened as a youth cultural center of the city of Cottbus. This historical depth is particularly important for the search field obenkino gladhouse and obenkino cottbus because it explains why the place is much more than a modern cinema space. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/%C3%BCber-uns/geschichte-des-hauses/))
The architectural development of recent years is also noteworthy. In the late 1990s, parts of the northern head building were newly secured and reconstructed, in 2004, initial securing and remodeling measures were carried out on the hall extension, and from 2011, the outer shell was fundamentally renovated. An important point for visitors is the complete accessibility, which was achieved through a passenger elevator and a more direct connection to the historic building. This makes the Glad-House as a cultural venue contemporary: history remains visible, but access is open and user-friendly. The official about us page adds this perspective with a note on the genre and cross-genre possibilities in the areas of event office, Obenkino, and literature workshop. For all those looking for obenkino photos, obenkino preview, or simply a place with character, this presents a convincing overall picture. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/%C3%BCber-uns/geschichte-des-hauses/))
Photos, social media, and opening hours of the house
Those looking for Obenkino photos will find the best entry points through the official social media appearances of the Glad-House and OBENKINO. The imprint of the house explicitly mentions Facebook and Instagram presences, including the pages of Glad-House and Obenkino. The privacy policy also explains that the house consciously uses these social networks to spread information faster and allow users to see current content such as posters, photos, and announcements more easily. This is important for keyword logic because obenkino photos rarely refer to a single gallery but usually express the desire for current images, impressions, and event material. The official profiles are therefore the most obvious source for this. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/%C3%BCber-uns/impressum/?utm_source=openai))
Also, regarding obenkino cottbus opening hours, the answer is clear and factual: The service opening hours of the Glad-House are usually between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM on weekdays. These times refer to the accessibility of the house, not to the duration of individual film screenings; for cinema evenings, concerts, and special events, the respective program titles and times always apply. So if you have a question about access, ticket service, or photos, you can orient yourself to the official service hours and additionally check the respective program information. Together with the accessibility, the central location, and the social channels, this creates a modern visitor profile: OBENKINO is not just a place to watch films, but also a publicly accessible cultural venue with clear communication channels and regular digital insights.
Great little arthouse cinema. I was here quite often during my rehab in Burg and found the staff and the audience very pleasant. Films are shown in their original version at least once a week 👍👍. It's great that there's an elevator, so people with disabilities can also enjoy the cinema. If someone is coming in a wheelchair, they should definitely let the staff know in advance, as a member of staff will need to open the entrance from the courtyard. Those who can manage three steps can use the right-hand entrance and then take the elevator straight up (see video).
