Gladhouse Cottbus | Program & Tickets
The Gladhouse Cottbus is a youth cultural center of the city of Cottbus and at the same time a socio-cultural center with three clear profiles: Events & More for concerts, parties, readings, conferences, and festivals, the OBENKINO for films and discussions, and the literature workshop for creative writing. The house is located at Straße der Jugend 16 and combines cultural work for children, young people, and adults with a program that ranges from evening formats to cultural education. Those searching for Gladhouse Cottbus today, Gladhouse Cottbus program, or Gladhouse Cottbus events will find here not only an event location but a versatile cultural house with its own character and clear regional anchoring. The website even describes the Glad-House as the largest socio-cultural center in southern Brandenburg and well-known far beyond the region, which underscores the importance of the house for the cultural scene. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/%C3%BCber-uns/?utm_source=openai))
Events and Program at Glad-House Cottbus
When it comes to Gladhouse Cottbus events and Gladhouse Cottbus program, it quickly becomes clear how broad the orientation of the house is. On the homepage, different formats continuously appear, such as Quizlabor, clothing swap party, reading stage Cottbus, Kiezpoeten Slam Show, or party evenings like The Beautiful Party. This is important for the search intent behind today's, current, and program-related inquiries, as the Gladhouse is not a house with just one genre, but a place where music, conversation, reading, participation, and club atmosphere mix. This makes the location interesting for a very mixed audience: young adults, culture fans, school groups, families, clubs, and visitors who are specifically looking for a lively evening program in Cottbus. Additionally, the house's report for 2024 speaks of an unrestrictedly implemented program and highlights new event formats, which makes the continuous work behind the calendar visible. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/?utm_source=openai))
The figures from the annual report for 2023 also show that the Gladhouse is much more than a single stage: At that time, 557 events were held, and writing workshops or workshops were offered on 221 days. At the same time, the total number of event visitors was 31,421, which underscores the role of the house as a permanent cultural address in the city. From an SEO perspective, this is relevant because search queries like Gladhouse Cottbus today, Gladhouse Cottbus reviews, or Gladhouse Cottbus photos often seek not only a date but a complete picture of the atmosphere. This picture arises from the mix of parties, discussion formats, literary work, and film programs. So, anyone looking for a place where something is happening in the evening while also maintaining cultural substance will find in the Gladhouse a combination of regularity, diversity, and local ties that clearly distinguishes it from classic single-purpose locations. Tickets and Advance Sales at Gladhouse Cottbus
The ticket question at Gladhouse Cottbus Tickets is particularly simple and at the same time somewhat flexible. According to the official ticket service, tickets for all events are generally only available at the box office. If advance sales are set up for individual dates, this will be indicated in the program overviews with a corresponding link. Pre-orders are only conditionally possible and should be clarified via the provided phone numbers. For visitors, this is a clear advantage because one can remain spontaneous on the one hand, while still having access to advance sales options for selected events on the other. For the search intent of ticketing, advance sales, and box office, the official site thus provides a clear answer: The normal route leads through the box office, while advance sales are supplementary and event-related. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/service/))
In practice, this means: If you are planning a concert, party, reading, or film event at the Gladhouse, you should first check the program and then see if an advance sales link is provided. This is exactly why the combination of Gladhouse Cottbus program and Gladhouse Cottbus tickets is so important. The house does not work with a rigid, always the same distribution system, but with an event logic that is oriented towards the respective dates. This is also relevant for younger guests, as the website additionally points out rules for 16 to 18-year-olds after 24:00 and even provides a U-18 authorization. This shows that the house not only offers ticket sales but also clearly communicates youth protection and admission rules. This is equally helpful for parents, companions, and young guests and increases the reliability of planning. ([glad.house](https://www.glad.house/?utm_source=openai))
Obenkino, Film Evenings, and Cinema at Glad-House
Those searching for Gladhouse Cottbus cinema or Gladhouse Cottbus Obenkino will land at one of the most distinctive components of the house. The OBENKINO is one of the three cultural areas of the Glad-House and offers, according to its official self-description, a year-round art-house film program with school cinema and thematic projects. The annual statistics for 2023 also explicitly mention that during the Cottbus Film Festival, both the OBENKINO and the large hall of the youth cultural center were used as venues for film screenings. This is a strong sign that the house not only hosts local events but is also integrated into larger film contexts. For the search intent for cinema, program, and special events, this dual function is particularly valuable because it shows: The Gladhouse is not only a party and concert venue but also a serious cinema location with curation and festival experience. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/%C3%BCber-uns/?utm_source=openai))
The technical data makes the cinema aspect even more tangible. The cinema hall is located on the upper floor, accessible via two separate staircases and a passenger elevator, and offers seated space for 70 viewers. Additionally, there is an adjacent cinema bar, and with a mobile stage in front of the screen, even concerts with a small lineup are possible. The same page also describes an open-air cinema in the courtyard that has around 70 seats. This combination of indoor cinema, outdoor venue, and barrier-free access makes the house flexible and attractive for different formats. For users looking for Gladhouse Cottbus photos or impressions, this is important: The cinema is not an isolated hall but part of a whole event architecture consisting of foyer, bar, hall, and courtyard. This is exactly what creates the special atmosphere that distinguishes the OBENKINO from many standardized cinema spaces. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/service/r%C3%A4ume/technische-ausstattung/))
Directions, Public Transport, and Barrier-Free Access
The official website provides very concrete information about Gladhouse Cottbus directions and accessibility. By car, it mentions access routes from Berlin via the A13 and A15 with exit Cottbus Süd, from Dresden via the A13 and B169, from Frankfurt (Oder), Eisenhüttenstadt, and Guben via the B112 and further the B97, as well as from Bautzen, Hoyerswerda, and Spremberg via the B97. Those arriving by public transport can take tram 4 from Cottbus main station to the stop Marienstraße/Glad House or walk about 15 minutes. This is particularly helpful for inquiries about directions because the route is not vague but reduced to a clear public transport and road network logic. The address itself is Straße der Jugend 16 in 03046 Cottbus, which further simplifies orientation. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/service/anreise/?utm_source=openai))
Equally important is the barrier-free accessibility. According to the technical specifications, all event rooms are barrier-free accessible. The cinema hall on the upper floor is connected via two staircases and a passenger elevator, and the building's history also refers to the later installed passenger elevator, through which complete barrier-free access for the Glad-House was achieved. For visitors with mobility restrictions, this is a central argument because the house not only offers spaces but also makes these spaces practically accessible. In combination with the clear location, the straightforward travel description, and the central cultural profile, a place is created that is well-planned without losing historical substance. Especially at large events, evening appointments, or film programs, this transparency pays off because it reduces uncertainty and makes the visit decision easier. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/service/r%C3%A4ume/technische-ausstattung/))
Rooms, Hall Plan, and Capacities
The spatial structure of the Glad-House is one of the strongest reasons for its versatility. The published technical data mention several clearly defined areas: the large hall, the small hall Slow, the cinema hall, and an ancillary hall. The large hall is 16.4 meters long and 11.5 meters wide and is designed for up to 750 standing or 250 seated guests. The stage is 8 meters wide, limited to 7 meters at the stage portal, and 6 meters deep; additionally, there is a permanently installed electric screen. This makes the room suitable for concerts, parties, festivals, conferences, student theater, and also film screenings with a larger audience. For search queries like Gladhouse Cottbus hall or Gladhouse Cottbus capacity, these data are crucial as they reliably describe the framework of the location. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/service/r%C3%A4ume/technische-ausstattung/))
The small hall Slow is 18 meters long and 5 meters wide and offers a maximum of 100 standing or 70 seated places. It is used for smaller concerts, seminars, small art events, and as a party floor and is accessible from both the large hall and the Glad-House pub. The cinema hall on the upper floor measures 12 by 5 meters and has 70 seated places, while the ancillary hall, measuring 8.5 by 8.5 meters, can serve up to 80 standing places for workshops, project work, rehearsal space, or cloakroom. Additionally, there are entrance foyer, side foyer, and a self-organized, event-related gastronomy. This spatial logic makes the place interesting not only for visitors but also for organizers, as different formats can be represented in parallel or consecutively. So, anyone looking for a hall plan, flexible spaces, or a location with multiple levels will find here a house with a clear structure and at the same time high adaptability. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/service/r%C3%A4ume/technische-ausstattung/))
History, Atmosphere, Photos, and Reviews
The history of Gladhouse Cottbus gives the house a depth that is often missed in modern event venues. The building ensemble was constructed in 1846/47 as a citizens' casino, later expanded and remodeled several times, and inaugurated in 1951 as a youth club. By the end of 1989, the condition was already so critical that even demolition was on the table, but in March 1990, it reopened as a youth cultural center of the city of Cottbus. After that, further securing, reconstruction, and renovation phases followed, including in the late 1990s, 2004, and from 2011 with a fundamental renovation of the outer shell. Particularly important for today's use was the installation of a passenger elevator and the direct connection to the historic building, which achieved complete barrier-free access. This development explains why the house not only functions but also creates identity: it connects history, urban landscape, and current cultural work in a single place. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/%C3%BCber-uns/geschichte-des-hauses/?utm_source=openai))
For the search intent Gladhouse Cottbus photos and Gladhouse Cottbus reviews, the atmosphere is also relevant. The official appearance of the house refers to social networks for Events & More, OBENKINO, and literature workshop as well as to a YouTube channel, which provides visitors with additional visual impressions and program information. At the same time, the local resonance speaks for itself: With 4.4 stars from 69 reviews, there is a solid and stable perception of the house. This fits with the positioning as a place that is known beyond the region while still providing direct, down-to-earth cultural work. So, anyone looking for not just a ticket but an impression of mood, style, and offerings will find in the Glad-House a mix of tradition, youth culture, art, and current event life that is firmly anchored in Cottbus. This very mix makes the location interesting for visitors, organizers, and search engines alike. ([gladhouse.de](https://www.gladhouse.de/kontakt/))

We were at a concert by Ledz-Zep - a Led Zeppelin tribute band - on March 14, 2025, at the same place we saw them two years ago. Since we enjoyed it so much back then, we traveled from Chemnitz again to attend the concert - and we were not disappointed. A cool location - ideal for events and concerts in a smaller, more private setting. Entrance was super easy. Great atmosphere - great acoustics. We can recommend it.

Nice little concert venue that's worth the trip to Cottbus. Three bars (drinks only) and reasonable prices. The bar inside on the raised platform has a great view of the stage. The staff was super friendly! The bar and restrooms at the entrance provide a way to easily get out of the crowd after the concert. We'll definitely come back.

Exciting place to experience something. Concerts and movies at the Oben-Kino as well as school events take place at the Gladhouse. In November, there's a concert with the band Kuult. Nice staff, suitable restroom facilities, and moderate drink prices. So there's always something happening at the Gladhouse. Highly recommended.
